High Bridge

Esther Pennington, 291-2629

High Bridge Presbyterian Church welcomed the Rev. Paul Sydnor, our visiting missionary from Turkey, who gave a brief report during worship and a slide presentation of his mission work during Sunday school. Our church has supported this mission for 18 years.

Visiting this Sunday’s worship and most Sundays are members of our Virginia Military Institute coach John McCoy’s rugby team. Also, visiting and home for the holidays is the pastor’s son, Nate Willis.

The evening circle will meet Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m., with Lea Braford.

The afternoon circle will meet Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. at the home of the late Audrey Armentrout.

The Advent season is fast approaching. High Bridge will have “hanging of the greens” as scheduling allows. Advent begins on Sunday, Dec. 1.

The children’s live nativity drive-thru Christmas program is scheduled for Dec. 8. A donation of nonperishable food items for the local food pantry will be collected by the deacons at the end of the drive and is greatly appreciated. Rain date is Dec. 15.

The Natural Bridge Volunteer Fire Department is putting up a Christmas memory tree at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, at the fire department. There will be a $10 fee per memory light. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served after the event. Call (540) 570-0021 or ask any NBVFD member any questions you may have.

The Natural Bridge/Glasgow food pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, and close at 11 a.m. The High Bridge congregation is collecting canned sweet potatoes, vegetables and fruits for the food pantry during the month of December.
