Those who woke up early on Monday in Glasgow saw a pretty heavy frost. I thought this one would take out what was left of my flowers, but when I looked out after the sun can out, and lo and behold there were still some blooms. I’ve never had flowers to survive this long in the season.
I wish everyone one a happy and safe Thanksgiving with family and friends The various Christmas trees are going up at the Natural Bridge State Park gift shop. Be sure to stop by and see the display and vote for your favorite by leaving non-perishable food items for the local food pantry or supplies such as body wash, tooth paste, shampoo, towels and washcloths for Project Horizon, or you may buy votes. See the information at the gift shop. The town of Glasgow has a tree, as does St John’s Episcopal Church, and many others. Can’t wait to visit and see this display.
Looking ahead, the town’s Christmas parade is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m.
The congregation of Glasgow Baptist Church will enjoy a covered-dish meal on Sunday, Dec. 8, following morning worship. The church will also have a Christmas Eve service at 5:30.
There will be an open house at the church on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon for the newly formed Glasgow Christian Academy for grades third through 12th. Classes are scheduled to begin Jan. 2. The academy will have online classes through Liberty University.
We are saddened for the Richardson family, who suffered the loss of Octavia Richardson, in a kayaking accident this past weekend here in Glasgow.
