Meals And Music At W&L
As the holiday season approaches, Washington and Lee University will present several seasonal events open to the Rockbridge community.
A Winter Wonderland Family Dinner will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at W&L’s Marketplace.
Also that evening at 7 will be the annual Holiday Pops concert in Wilson Concert Hall in the Lenfest Center for the Arts.
This concert features ensemble groups from the W&L Department of Music performing pieces that celebrate the holiday season. The program will include individual group performances, massed ensemble pieces and a variety of student conductors.
Tickets are required but are free with a nonperishable food or monetary donation to Campus Kitchen at W&L, an organization that addresses issues of food waste and food insecurity in the Rockbridge area. For more information, visit my.wlu.edu/lenfest-center/ holiday-pops-concert.
Two events are also scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 5.
Area residents can first enjoy a traditional holiday dinner at W&L’s Marketplace from 4:30 to 8 p.m. The menu is available at my.wlu. edu/dining-services/specialevents.
Then at 8 p.m. that day, the Lessons and Carols candlelight service will take place in the University Chapel, a tradition that dates back over 80 years.
It weaves together the narration of the Christmas story through music, readings and carols. No tickets are required but space is limited.
