Parade, Market, History Part Of Buena Vista Celebrations

As the holiday season approaches, Buena Vista invites residents and visitors alike to experience the warmth and charm of the city’s festive celebrations.

Now through Dec. 20, Main Street Buena Vista is sponsoring a Jackpot promotion, supporting local businesses as part of Small Business Saturday. This promotion encourages everyone to shop local, with chances to win prizes while supporting the heart of the community.

The festivities get underway next Thursday, Dec. 5, with the tree lighting and parade.

The tree lighting in Town Square starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by the parade at 7. With the theme “Frosty and Bright,” the parade will run along Magnolia Avenue, from 23rd Street to 17th Street. Be sure to stop by City Bank for some hot cocoa. - The Paxton House Historical Society of Buena Vista will offer a full afternoon and evening of yuletide cheer on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the historic Paxton House at Glen Maury Park.

Visitors are invited to join the Paxton House board members for a holiday reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Step back in time as you enter this historic home fully decorated and ready to welcome you with a glimpse of a time past. Light refreshments will be served.

From 5 to 7 p.m., Santa will visit the Paxton House to talk with children about their wish lists. Parents are welcome to take photos.

After seeing Santa, families can walk to the porch to hear local children singing holiday songs and enjoy some holiday treats. --- The Buena Vista Farmers Market will hold its third annual Christmas Market on Dec. 14. Starting at 11 a.m. in Asunders and Straws, this indoor market will feature local vendors offering unique and handcrafted gifts perfect for holiday shopping.

- Throughout the season, area residents are invited to visit Glen Maury Park after dark to see the annual drive-thru holiday light displays. They will continue through New Year’s Day.
