Hats For Helene

A group of Rockbridge County women, under the guidance of Ellen Campbell (center in pink), met for seven hours on Saturday at Palmer Community Center to participate in Hats for Helene, the making of winter hats for victims of the hurricane that blasted western North Carolina recently. Eight women ran sewing machines non-stop while others cut out the patterns. There was a short lunch break of homemade vegetable beef soup and ham biscuits, much good cheer, and some 100 hats were made.
