The Lexington City School Board received the formal endorsement of city council to proceed with its efforts to purchase Rockbridge County’s half of the jointly operated Lexington High School. - The Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation announced that over six miles of Rt. 39 would be relocated and straightened. The targeted area was between the intersection with Interstate 64 West to its intersection with Rt. 252. - The new Days Inn located at Interstate 81’s Timber Ridge exit was ready to welcome guests. The hotel features a restaurant and a pool.
