A Buena Vista woman died following a twovehicle crash in Rockbridge County Monday morning.
According to the Virginia State Police, Ruby Estell Hammer, 84, of Buena Vista, driving a 2002 Buick Park Avenue, failed to yield the right of way while pulling out of a driveway onto U.S. 501 near River Road when the car was struck by a 2019 Hyundai Elantra that was traveling on U.S. 501. The accident occurred at 8:57 a.m.
Hammer, who was wearing her seatbelt, was transported to Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital where she later died.
The crash remains under investigation.
