Largest Crowd So Far

Largest Crowd So Far

The third annual Monacan Indian Nation Cultural Heritage Day last Saturday at the double-decker at Glen Maury Park drew its largest crowd yet. Some of the scenes included (clockwise from above), Hayden Sancho, son of duly elected Monacan Chief Contessa Sancho, leading the youth dance demonstration; local residents participating in a Unity Dance; Eric Plainbull, from Connecticut, representing the Crow, Lumbee and Haliwa-Saponi nations, playing a dual flute; beads found on land belonging to local Monacan David Beverly’s grandmother in Arnolds Valley; Beverly with his collection of locally gathered arrowheads and artifacts.
