Parry McCluer Middle School students celebrated Patriot Day on last Wednesday, Sept. 11, by placing American flags around the school building. Patriot Day has been observed across the country in commemoration of the lives lost during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The day before, teachers also held group meetings to discuss the symbolism of the Patriot, or Freedom, flag that was created in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks. Assistant Superintendent Dr. Gennifer Miller this year purchased a Patriot flag for each school in the school system.
