First Full Moon Of Summer

First Full Moon Of Summer

The first full day of summer Friday was capped off by the first full moon of the summer, the strawberry moon. The strawberry moon was given its name by Native American tribes in the northeastern U.S. because it appears around the time that strawberries ripen and can be gathered. This photo was shot in Rockbridge County byAlfred Newell.
