RC Girls Soccer Coasts To 8-0 Win Over Eagles

Wednesday, April 24 – The Rockbridge County High School girls soccer team cruised to an 8-0 home win over Valley District rival East Rockingham for its third consecutive victory on Tuesday night in Lexington.

It was the most dominant win of the season for the Wildcats (3-4-0 overall, 3-2-0 district).

Madelyn Jones scored the first two goals for RC, and Lydia Kendall contributed a goal to give RC a 3-0 halftime lead.

The Wildcats played even stronger after halftime, tactfully controlling the ball and overwhelming the Eagles (0-9-1, 0-6-1). Less than five minutes into the second half, Madelyn Jones scored again. Emily Jones scored RC’s fifth goal, and Lucy Boller-Pinkham added two more goals before putting in the final goal with less than 10 minutes left, ending the game early due to the eight-goal mercy rule.

RC maintained control of the ball throughout the game, and goalkeeper Sophia Perlozzo made five saves for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats will continue district action on Friday when they play at Harrisonburg, starting with junior varsity action at 5:30 p.m.
