Feb. 22, 2024 Editor, The News-Gazette: I’m writing to let you know that I recently called the Staunton office of Congressman Ben Cline at (540) 885-3861. I spoke to a nice lady about the situation in Ukraine and about my belief that our Congress and our congressman are not doing enough to provide aid and military supplies to the Ukrainians.
I’m a third-generation veteran and my family knows the cost of waiting too long to stop tyranny. We know that helping others who want to be free is an American value. For Congressman Cline, a member of the selfproclaimed “Freedom Caucus,” to not be doing more to support the freedom of an important ally and trading partner like Ukraine seems a bit ironic to me.
I implore those reading this to call the number above to tell the congressman’s staff and Congressman Cline to get this important legislation, funding and support passed before it is too late. Our Congress is large with many committees and subcommittees. It is possible for them to work on multiple events and issues in parallel without tying things together for political purposes.
