Blue Ridge CASA is inviting neighbors across the Rockbridge area community to put down the razor and grow a mustache for kids this year, in memory of Frank Friedman, whose enthusiasm helped launch the local Mustaches for Kids fundraiser four years ago.
In that first year, Frank raised more than any other grower, helping turn a new idea into an annual tradition that supports children in our community who have experienced abuse or neglect. To honor his legacy, and with the blessing of the Friedman family, Blue Ridge CASA is introducing the Frank Friedman Award, which will be presented to a grower whose efforts reflect Frank’s commitment to making the Rockbridge area a better place through service and philanthropy.
“Frank was instrumental in getting Mustaches for Kids off the ground here in Lexington,” said Angela Crawford, CEO of Blue Ridge CASA. “He jumped in that first year with real enthusiasm and raised more than anyone else. Naming this award for him is our way of making sure his spirit of giving back stays part of this event for years to come.”
To participate, register at myevent.com/m4kblueridge. To support a grower, visit https://myevent.com/m4kblueridge/ donate-to-a-grower.
Growers, supporters and anyone curious are welcome to join a meetup at Devils Backbone Outpost on Monday, Nov. 2 and Monday, Nov. 30, both days at 6:30 p.m.
“You don’t need to be good at growing a mustache to make a difference,” Crawford added. “Every grower who signs up and asks friends and family to chip in is helping a child in our community have a trained, caring advocate in their corner. We hope neighbors will join us and grow one for Frank.”
