Two local police officers have been named Virginia State Police Drug Task Force Officers of the Year.
Investigator Phillip Flint with the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office and Investigator Christopher Floyd with the Buena Vista Police Department were recognized by VSP for their work with the James River Regional Drug Task Force to combat drug trafficking in the region.
VSP said both officers have participated in complex investigations that target organizations known for trafficking methamphetamine and other drugs.
“Their efforts have resulted in significant drug seizures, successful prosecutions, and the disruption of criminal organizations,” VSP said in a press release.
“Phillip and Chris exemplify the professionalism, determination, and integrity we strive for in law enforcement,” Rockbridge County Sheriff Tony McFaddin said. “The success of their investigations is measured not only in arrests and seizures, but in safer communities and lives changed for the better. This recognition is well deserved, and we are incredibly proud of their accomplishments.”
Buena Vista Police Chief David Clements also praised the investigators for their teamwork, dedication, and commitment to protecting the community.
The James River Regional Drug Task Force includes officers from the Rockbridge County and Lexington City Sheriff’s Office, Buena Vista Police Department, Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office, Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Bedford Police Department, and Virginia State Police.
The task force has been involved in multiple arrests of alleged drug traffickers in Rockbridge County this year alone.
