Oct. 14, 2026 Editor, The News-Gazette: When I was a kid, mom required us to leave the door open to the bedroom I shared with my brother.
Flock cameras are like that bedroom door. There was also a time back in the 1950s when a pre-teener could walk, alone in the dark, down the back alley, three blocks to the public library in Salida, Colo., and still be safely home by 9 p.m.
But, not no more. Flock cameras and their sister surveillance devices aren’t Big Brother watching you; they are watching for Bad Brother. Bad Brother needs watching in a deteriorating social fabric under assault by the last hundred years of Marxistcollectivist democratic socialist subversion.
So, if we repaired the social fabric to where honor and dignity and the value of one’s word returned to the center of the classical American behavioral ethos, we could do without the cameras. DON HENKE Goshen
