Oct. 26, 2026 Editor, The News-Gazette: Unfortunately, many people are voting this year in Virginia with no idea that they are going to receive a ballot that includes three proposed amendment changes. They simply do not know the legal ramifications of these changes.
My special passion is the amendment about abortion. If passed, among other things, this amendment will do away with safeguards currently protecting those who want an abortion. At the very least, don’t we want parents to be informed of their young daughter’s unplanned pregnancy and medical facilities to be safe and held responsible for the services they provide? The most disturbing aspect of this proposed amendment is that those involved in sex trafficking will be able to take their young female victims (slaves) to an abortion clinic to have an abortion or perhaps a sterilization procedure with absolutely no accountability.
We need those who are voting to know what these amendments are really all about.
