Working in partnership with the Rockbridge Area Relief Association (RARA), Lexington Presbyterian Church is collecting coats this November to distribute to area children and adults. The coat drive is part of the church’s effort to ensure that our neighbors stay warm this winter.
“With chilly days and colder nights already upon us, we want to do all we can to help provide warm outerwear for children and families in our community,” said Betsy Lee, who chairs the church’s Outreach Committee. “We are so grateful for all RARA does to help meet our neighbors’ critical needs across Lexington, Buena Vista, and Rockbridge County, and our coat drive is one of the many ways we strive to support this vital mission.”
Community members may drop off new or gently used coats - of any size - between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, from Nov. 2 until Nov. 20. Use the church’s Murray Hall entrance on Main Street. A clearly labeled bin for contributions will be available just inside the door.
Lexington Presbyterian members may drop off items on Sundays and at other times, using the coat hooks that line Murray Hall.
Lexington Presbyterian will deliver all collected items to RARA, where they will be distributed to customers of RARA’s Neighborhood Grocery on Spotswood Drive.
Anyone with questions about the collection can call the church’s office at (540) 463-3873.
