Inside City Hall

Inside City Hall
Attendees at last Thursday’s open house at the renovated Lexington City Hall had a chance to see all of the changes. Several features from the “old” city hall, though, have been retained, including the original downstairs floor, at the request of former Mayor Frank Friedman. (all photos by Joseph Haney)

New furniture has been added to the department offices, including this one on the first floor, creating a blend of modern and historic aesthetics.

Throughout the building, the plaster on the walls has been removed, exposing the original bricks beneath.

Project manager Barbara Regester (left) discusses some of the features of the renovated building with write-in Council candidate Will Kirchner and CityManager Tom Carroll.

In addition to the downstairs floor, the stairs and railings have also been kept from the original building and refinished.
