Oct. 19, 2026 Editor, The News-Gazette: I write to encourage your readers to vote yes on all three of the constitutional amendments on the ballot in the commonwealth of Virginia.
These are common-sense ballot amendments that will protect the rights of Virginians no matter who is in office. Together, these three amendments will enshrine in our state constitution the right to reproductive freedom, marriage equality, and voting, and thus will protect our right to make our own healthcare decisions, to marry the person we choose, and to be full, participating members of our democracy.
In addition, if you attended one of the candidate forums or have read candidates’ responses to questions posed to them, you will see the wisdom of voting for Meghan Ferguson, Will Kirchner, and David Sigler for Lexington City Council. They have great experience and are ready to get to work on behalf of our city. ELLEN MAYOCK Lexington
