For the second year in a row, the Rockbridge County High School competition cheerleading team will play host for the Shenandoah District competition tonight, Wednesday. The competition will start at 6:30 p.m., with seven teams performing. Admission is $7.
The Wildcats, under the direction of head coach Shannon Bryan and assistant coaches Sarah Parnell and Alli Thomas, will be attempting to advance to the Region 3C competition. Each team’s routine is required to last at least two minutes and 30 seconds and no more than three minutes, with music for no more than one minute and 45 seconds.
Last year, the Wildcats placed second of seven teams and were the top Class 3 team at the district competition. They went on to place sixth of 10 teams at the Region 3C competition.
The Region 3C competition is scheduled to take place at Harrisonburg High School on Saturday, Oct. 31, at noon.
A story and photos from the district competition will be in next week’s newspaper.
