Virginia Lt. Gov. Ghazala Hashmi visits with protesters outside of the shuttered Augusta Health Primary Care in Buena Vista last Wednesday. Democrats and community members hosted rallies at three closed health clinics in Staunton, Churchville and Buena Vista last week. Protestors say that President Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” led to health care cuts that led to the closures. Hashmi was in the area last week for the Governor’s Summit on Rural Prosperity at the Virginia Horse Center and also for the ribbon cutting at the nearly completed Rockbridge Area Department of Social Services building in Buena Vista.
