Family Fun Day At The Baths

Family Fun Day At The Baths
FAMILY FUN Day at the Rockbridge Baths firehouse included lots of activities for local youths.

The Rockbridge Baths Community Organization (RBCO) recently hosted its first ever “Family Fun Day” at the Rockbridge Baths Volunteer Fire Department.

An event organizing committee consisted of Anna Chittum, Diana Hopkins, Faith Vosburgh, and RBCO President Vera Winkler.

The pitch-in picnic featured grilled “fire station” chicken cooked by grill master Charlie Chittum and his assistant Brian Entsmingrer, plus side dishes brought by community members. Music was provided by eighth-grader R.J. Hostetter. Family games included corn hole, tic-tac-toe, badminton, Four-to-Score, Cat’s Cradle, a tattoo station and a bounce house.

The RBCO is a volunteer community organization dedicated to ‘hearing and helping neighbors.” The motto is “heart to hand to build community neighbor to neighbor.” Events are planned to bring people together for food, fun, education and resources. There is a farmers market on Saturday mornings during the summer growing season, and free weekly yoga and exercise classes conducted at Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

Previous events included a “totally free market” of yard sale-like items, educational presentations about Rockbridge Baths, and lighting of the Swinging Bridge near the post office in December.

EIGHTH-GRADER R.J. Hostetter provided musical entertainment at the recent Family Fun Day.

A VARIETY of food was available for all those who attended the Family Fun Day hosted by the Rockbridge Baths Community Organization.
