A transition is taking place within Bank of Botetourt’s leadership serving the Rockbridge area market. Longtime banker Robin Moore has concluded her 47-year career in banking, having retired Oct. 2. As the bank honors Moore’s decades of service, Tina M. Simpson has been promoted to vice president, market manager for the bank’s Lexington and Fairfield offices.
The transition recognizes Moore’s longstanding service while providing continuity through an experienced leader with deep knowledge of the bank and the communities it serves. Simpson brings 33 years of banking experience, including more than 25 years with Bank of Botetourt, to her expanded leadership role.
“Strong community banking is built on trust, consistency and experienced people who understand the customers and communities they serve,” said Michelle R. Austin, president and CEO of Bank of Botetourt. “Robin and Tina have demonstrated those qualities throughout their careers. We are grateful for Robin’s extraordinary commitment to banking and the Rockbridge community, and we are pleased to have Tina step into this expanded leadership role. This transition reflects the strength and continuity of our team as we continue investing in our people, technology and services to meet the evolving needs of the communities we serve.”
Moore, who served as assistant vice president and branch manager of the Fairfield office, began her banking career in 1979 with First National Bank. Before entering the banking industry, she worked for Pres Brown’s as a retail bookkeeper. Born and raised in the Gravel Hill community of Rockbridge County, Moore has remained closely connected to the area throughout her career and through volunteer initiatives, including Relay for Life.
Over nearly five decades in banking, Moore built a career grounded in service and lasting relationships with the people, businesses and organizations of the community she has long called home.
“Robin’s 47-year career in banking is an exceptional accomplishment, and we are grateful for the dedication and commitment she has demonstrated throughout her years of service,” said Duane Burks, senior vice president and chief retail officer. “Her roots in Rockbridge and the relationships she has built throughout her career have made a lasting impact. We wish Robin the very best as she begins this well-deserved next chapter. We are equally fortunate to have Tina’s experience and leadership as she steps into her expanded role, providing continued local knowledge and leadership for our Lexington and Fairfield offices.”
Simpson joined Bank of Botetourt in November 2000 and has served the Bank and its customers for more than 25 years. During her 33-year banking career, she has held numerous positions, including teller, head teller, consumer banker and branch manager. Her progression through these roles has provided extensive experience across retail banking and a strong understanding of the customers and communities Bank of Botetourt serves.
In overseeing the bank’s Lexington and Fairfield offices, Simpson will help lead the bank’s continued service to individuals, families, businesses, nonprofits and local organizations throughout the Rockbridge area.
A Buena Vista resident, Simpson participates in community business events and attends Fincastle Baptist Church. Outside of banking, she enjoys traveling, shopping, photography and spending time with friends and family.
