Southern Virginia University will host the award-winning contemporary Christian vocal band “known by name” for a live concert in the Knight Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Formerly known as j209, “known by name” is celebrated for its powerful vocal harmonies, dynamic arrangements, and inspiring faith-centered music.
Winners of the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards for two consecutive years, the ensemble has performed for thousands at highprofile venues, including the Tabernacle at Temple Square, BYU’s Marriott Center, the Salt Palace, and SCERA. The group has also collaborated with prominent artists such as Steven Sharp Nelson of The Piano Guys and the King will come.
Through Christ-centered concerts and uplifting musical experiences, the group strives to help youth and young adults find hope and belonging, reminding audiences that they are known by name and loved by God, according to a spokesperson.
The performance at Southern Virginia University serves as a highlight in a busy fall season for the ensemble, which includes a three-day engagement at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., later in October.
