Thursday, Sept. 10 -- Fort Defiance defeated Rockbridge County High School 3-0 in a Shenandoah District volleyball matchup in Lexington.
Livia Clinedinst totaled 11 kills and four blocks, while Maddie Gale also finished with 11 kills to help the Indians (9-0, 3-0 district) remain unbeaten with a 25-14, 25-14, 25-19 victory.
Geneva Snyder posted a match-high 14 kills and added eight digs for the Wildcats (1-5, 0-4). Cesi Beidle contributed seven kills and three aces, and Allison Licona-Asto registered 20 assists. The 'Cats also received eight digs from Adrianna Grue and five from Braelyn Polly.
Alexis Miller recorded 29 assists and three service aces for Fort, which has reached the VHSL Class 2 state championship game in each of the past two seasons. Caroline Hanger notched seven kills and two blocks for the Indians, while Harper Carter added four kills and four blocks.
RC will play host to Parry McCluer on Monday, beginning with the junior varsity contest at 5:30 p.m. The Wildcats swept the Fighting Blues in the season opener for both teams in Buena Vista back on Aug. 25.
