An officer with the Lexington Police Department is on administrative leave after being arrested for driving under the influence.
Officer Harlie Curry was arrested in Covington on Friday evening and charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence as a first offender.
Lexington Police Chief Justin Doll told The News-Gazette on Tuesday morning of the arrest and that she has been placed on nonpunitive paid administrative leave pending the conclusion of an internal investigation. He noted that, as with any individual charged with a crime, Curry is innocent until proven guilty, both in the criminal case and the internal investigation.
“As law enforcement officers, we have very high standards and we hold each other to those standards,” Doll told The News-Gazette.
The News-Gazette reached out to the Covington Police Department for any available details surrounding Curry’s arrest, but did not receive a response by press time.
An adjudicatory hearing on the charge has been scheduled for Dec. 7 in Alleghany County General District Court.
