Sept. 9, 1976

James F. Bowen of Lexington purchased the East Lexington Grocery Store from Roland Fifer. He planned to operate it under the name the East Lexington Store. - Hermann Lee oversaw his last formal meeting with the Rockbridge County School Board. - Lexington Mayor Charles F. Phillips declined to state how he would vote on a personal proposal for a trial period of two-way streets downtown.

Sept. 13, 2006

Peter Sils continued to work on plans for a courts complex on the Courthouse Square property despite the recent rejection by the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors. He expected to have the plans completed by November. - Lexington City Council and the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors adopted resolutions supporting plans by Dabney S. Lancaster Community College to build a new and larger Rockbridge Regional Center. - The area behind Parry Mc-Cluer Middle School was proposed for a site for a new municipal building for the city of Buena Vista.
