A small kitchen fire Thursday evening temporarily displaced two county residents.
According to Nathan Ramsey, Rockbridge County fire-rescue chief, a grease fire damaged the cabinets above the stove in a house at 65 Pinnacle Lane, which is located behind Duke’s Lexington Antique Center north of Lexington.
The call came in at 6 p.m., with firefighters from Lexington, South River, Buena Vista, Kerrs Creek and Rockbridge County Fire-Rescue responding. The Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
Units remained on the scene for about an hour and a half. No one was hurt, but the smoke and water damage did displace the residents, said Ramsey. The Red Cross was called in to provide overnight shelter until repairs could be made.
