Tuesday, Sept. 8 -- Amherst County defeated the Parry McCluer High School volleyball team in straight sets in a non-district matchup in Buena Vista.
The Lancers (3-2) totaled 25 service aces en route to a 25-12, 25-13, 25-13 victory over the Fighting Blues (0-5). Madison Tuggle led the way with seven aces, followed by six from Ania Thompson, five from Clair Meeks, four from Tomsin Bristow and three from Kynslee Wilson.
Wilson also helmed the Amherst offense with 19 assists and four kills. Meeks posted seven kills, while Emma Beam and Marlee Mull finished with five apiece.
Jorja Catlett had five assists, one block, one kill and one ace for PM. Jaelyn Manning notched two kills, while Emma Coffey and Sophie Porterfield each registered two aces.
PM will travel to Nelson County on Wednesday, where action begins with the junior varsity contest at 5:30 p.m.
