Aug. 27, 2026 Editor, The News-Gazette: I am so relieved that VDOT finally put up “No Parking” signs along the roadway at Ben Salem Wayside on westbound U.S. 60 near Buena Vista.
I regularly cringed when I drove by during high visitation and saw small children wandering between parked cars precariously close to the highway as vehicles sped by just feet away, while distracted parents were some distance away. Scary!
I know this inconveniences many folks but it is a prudent decision that will seriously help to avert a potentially heartbreaking tragedy. DANNY HOEHNE Rockbridge County
