The 33rd annual Chris Wheeler Memorial Softball Tournament welcomed 34 teams, 28 men’s teams and six coed teams. The tournament took place Aug. 20-23 at Glen Maury Park in Buena Vista. Winning the gold bracket was Redline Sports (pictured), while Roy’s Gym claimed the silver bracket, Conrad’s Crew won the bronze bracket, and Full Baked earned the coed bracket title. The tournament was named after Chris Wheeler, a two-time all-state quarterback for Parry McCluer High School who was killed at age 23 in a car wreck in 1994. Funds raised from the tournament directed by Randy Mohler, went to the Virginia Cardinals 14-and-under baseball team, which is based in Midlothian.
