Thirty-seven family members and friends from six states met for the annual Hart Family Reunion at the Rockbridge Baths Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, July 25.
Co-presidents Mary Jo Baylor and Richard Hart welcomed the descendants of David Henry and Mary Ellen (Gaylor) Hart and John Harvey and Susan (Gaylor) Hart. Family updates were shared, and a moment of silence was observed for family members who had passed away since the last reunion. The welcome was followed by the traditional Hart Family blessing, a group photo and a potluck lunch.
The customary watermelon was served, and the afternoon continued with fellowship, genealogy updates and sharing of photos.
The two flower arrangements that decorated the registration table were later taken to Bethesda Presbyterian Church and New Monmouth Presbyterian Church to be used for Sunday morning worship services. The donation of the flowers to the two churches attended by many members of the Hart family is a long-standing tradition, with the flowers being given in memory of deceased family members.
Attending from the local area were Jerry and Margaret McDonald of Rockbridge Baths; Casey and Rachel Clark, Calvin, Cordelia, Clementine, Ambrose and Marigold Clark, Bob and Karen Doyle, and Lorne and Sue Cooper of Lexington.
Attending from elsewhere in Virginia were Mark and Bonnie Rash of Forest; Robert and Mary Jo Baylor of Norfolk; and June Keller and Michelle Keller of Richmond.
Attending from other states were Jessica Lundfelt and Patricia Lundfelt of Quaker Hill, Conn.; Susan McKemy of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; Charles Hart, Irvin Hart and Betty Swann of Tampa, Fla.; Richard Hart of Cherryville, N.C.; Jennifer Keller of Willow Spring, N.C.; Paul Hart, Paul N. Hart, Misty Sanders, Olivia Sanders and Scott Hart of Chesapeake, Ohio; Courtney Hart and Trevor Neece of South Point, Ohio; Gabe Knapp of Wheelersburg, Ohio; and Ron and Becky Rash of Simpsonville, S.C.
