A 5-kilometer road running race and a kids’ fun run will start the 55th annual Labor Day Festival in Buena Vista on Monday, Sept. 7. The races will take place prior to the downtown parade and will raise funds for the Parry McCluer High School cross country teams.
Registration will start at 7:30 a.m. at Camden Field. The 1-mile kids’ fun run will begin at 8 a.m. at Camden Field. Registration is $5, and there is no online registration.
The 5K, open to all ages and scheduled for 8:30 a.m., will start and end at Camden Field, on the corner of Magnolia Avenue and 10th Street. The course, which will go on roads into downtown Buena Vista, is flat, fast and accurate. PM cross country runners, coached by Chris Poluikis, will be volunteering and cheering along the course. Awards will be given to the top three finishers and to age group winners.
Registration for the 5K is $15 for individuals, and the family rate is $35, with up to two adults and three children in a family.
