Tattoo Parlor Permit OK’d
Lexington City Council Aug. 6 approved a conditional use permit for a tattoo parlor to operate at 25 W. Washington St.
The parlor will operate two regular tattoo stations, a third “flex” tattoo station for guest artists and a private piercing station. That configuration was proposed by the applicant and city staff recommended making it a condition of the permit.
Leslie Straughan made the motion to approve the permit and Nicholas Betts provided the second. The motion carried in a 4-0 vote, with John Driscoll not in attendance.
Council held a public hearing on the application, but no one from the public spoke at the meeting. Several written comments in favor of the parlor were included in the meeting packet.
Prior to the vote, Interim Mayor David Sigler asked applicant Frank O’Roark and tattoo artist Freeman Martin when the shop would open. O’Roark said that the goal was to open on Sept. 1, “or soon after.”
