Buena Vista City Public Schools has eight new teachers across the division this year. Four are originally from the area.
At Enderly Heights
Marie Mohler is a new third grade teacher at Enderly Heights Elementary School. The mother of two grew up in Roanoke before moving to Rockbridge County in 2017. Mohler says a random fact about her is that she can watch “Harry Potter” on repeat and never get tired of it.
Katelyn Harrison is the new fifth grade reading teacher at EHES School. Harrison was born in Lexington and has spent five years working at EHES as a paraprofessional while earning her degree online through Liberty University.
At Kling
Emily Dudley, who grew up in Rockbridge County, is a new special education teacher Kling Elementary School. This is Dudley’s fourth year teaching, but she’s been working with children with special needs for more than a decade.
Hannah Kosmas, who was born in Rockbridge County, will be the new elementary school art teacher at both KES and EHES. She received her BFA at the Kansas City Art Institute and moved back home to pursue teaching. “When I’m not at school, I love hiking and swimming in the backwoods of Rockbridge, spending quality time with my family, and baking,” she says.
At PMMS
Isaac Armstrong, a graduate of Parry McCluer High School, teaches eight-grade science, environmental science and ecology at PMMS. Armstrong graduated from Southern Virginia University in 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. He played basketball, soccer, and ran cross country at PMHS.
Matt Buongiovanni is a new English teacher at PMMS. He graduated from SVU last year with a major in English and a minor in philosophy. “When I’m not in the classroom, I can probably be found going for a walk somewhere in town and taking in the many beautiful views that this town has to offer,” he says.
Dax Little brings more than 20 years of teaching experience to PMMS. He was born in Texas but moved frequently because of his father’s military career. He spent much of his life in Colorado and moved to Virginia with his wife and two of his three sons five years ago. Little will teach sixth grade U.S. history and seventh grade civics.
At PMHS
Devin Barbee joined Parry McCluer High School to teach eighth and ninth grade English. Barbee graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English from Southern Virginia University in the summer of 2025. Barbee worked for a year as a paraeducator at Rockbridge County High School.
