The City Council of the City of Lexington will hold a public hearing during its regular meeting on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the first-floor meeting room of the Rockbridge County Administrative Offices, 150 South Main Street, Lexington, Virginia, concerning proposed Ordinance 2026-10. If adopted, the proposed ordinance will amend Section 403-17 of the Code of the City of Lexington, to clarify language regarding the timing of disconnections for nonpayment on residential accounts. A copy of the proposed ordinance may be examined either (i) at the Office of the City Manager at 539 East Nelson Street, on the second floor, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or (ii) on the City’s website (www.lexingtonva.gov). Citizens are encouraged to review the proposed ordinance, attend the public hearing, and present their views on the proposed ordinance. Citizens also may submit public comments in writing to the following email address: [email protected], by U.S. Mail to the City Manager’s Office, 539 East Nelson Street, Lexington VA, 24450, or by hand-delivering comments to the City Manager’s Office. Comments will be distributed to City Council and entered into the minutes as public records.
