Construction workers continued to make progress on Prasnick-Ross Field at Veterans Stadium at Rockbridge County High School last week, in hopes that the field will be ready for the football team’s season opener against local rival Parry McCluer on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. The field will have a brand new artificial turf surface, built to professional-grade standards and designed to handle the heavy use that has worn down the school’s existing grass field over the years. The artificial turf project, which is being contracted through LandTek, will make it easier for the field to recover from rain. (Stephanie Mikels Blevins photos)
