The South River Volunteer Fire Department’s carnival kicked off last Thursday with a full evening of rides, games and food, as well as music by Steve Hoke and Dennis Thorne. Among the scenes were (clockwise from above) area residents trying to win goldfish, youths playing bingo, 4-year-old Liam Mynes getting a high-five from Donald Forbes while on the Scooby Doo ride, and Avery Tomlin reeling in a prize while her sister Atley watches.
