Bruce and Beverly Nedrow have returned home after vacationing in Kansas. In addition to visiting friends and family they enjoyed seeing The Keeper of The Plains Fire Ring and The Wichita Zoo.
Tomorrow the Mobile Food Pantry will be at the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department from 2 to 3:00 p.m. Canned goods, fresh and frozen meats and fresh produce are available at no charge. Do you have a friend or neighbor who may benefit from this service? Help spread the word! Even if you don’t have a need, stop by and thank these folks for caring about our community!
Sunday, Aug. 16, will be Oxford Presbyterian Church’s final summer worship in the park. A covered- dish picnic will follow the service. Hot dogs and drinks will be furnished. Bring a covered dish or dessert and share in some summer fellowship with your friends and neighbors. All will be moved indoors if the weather is bad.
Also this coming Sunday, Aug. 16, at 10 a.m., under the leadership of Pastor Segars, Oxford’s Adult Sunday School class will begin a study on Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
The next headstone cleaning opportunity at Oxford’s cemetery will be Thursday, Aug. 20, from 8 a.m. to noon. Community volunteers are welcome. Participating in this project is a meaningful way to show our appreciation for the legacy that has been passed down to us. Thursday, Aug. 27, has been set aside for The Effinger Community Revival beginning at 6 p.m. This annual revival service, sponsored by the area churches, will be held at the Lake Robertson Pavilion. Randy Smith will be speaking and music will be provided by Dorsey Hostetter. Light refreshments will be provided.
