The Rockbridge County and Parry McCluer high school football teams officially began practice last Thursday, with the Wildcats on their practice field and the Fighting Blues at PM’s Bobby Williams Field. The Wildcats are under the direction of second-year head coach Zack Rhodenizer, while fourth-year head coach Jeremiah Brockenbrough guides the Blues. After four weeks of practicing and scrimmaging, the Wildcats and Blues are scheduled to play each other in their season opener at RC’s Prasnicki-Ross Field at Veterans Stadium in Lexington on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. with RC’s new artificial turf field on track to be ready in time. We’ll have season previews, team photos and a prediction for the game in our Aug. 26 newspaper. (RC photos by Stephanie Mikels Blevins, PM photos by Ronnie Coffey)
