Rockbridge

Bonuses Approved

The Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors on July 27 adopted an ordinance providing county employees with 2 percent bonuses. The measure follows action by the General Assembly to include a provision in the state budget providing for 2 percent bonuses for constitutional officers and statesupported positions.

The bonuses are targeted for the first August payroll. In addition to county employees, Rockbridge Regional Jail and Department of Social Services employees are to receive the 2 percent bonuses.

Friedman

Honored

The Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution July 27 honoring late Lexington Mayor Frank Friedman for his “immeasurable” contributions to Lexington and the region which will continue to “reverberate through our collective histories.”

Noting his extensive involvement in the community through his service on a multitude of boards, commissions and committees, the resolution stated, “Frank seemed to be everywhere all the time and never missed an opportunity to share his love and support for his beloved city of Lexington.” He was forever “spreading goodwill at every turn with a perpetual upbeat and positive attitude, taking time to speak with everyone he encountered.”
