July 21, 2026 Editor, The News-Gazette: Questions that are very important for us to answer when talking about data centers.
1.) How much extra water have we put in for usages above and beyond the amount that we now use?
A very important question! If we say we have enough for data centers and something else comes up – then where are we?
And the same thing is true for our electricity What do you get from these data centers?
A little extra money and a shortage of water and electricity.
We also have to put in water and electricity for forest fires. Have you thought about that?All for just a little money and not our safety!
2.) Did you know that backup generators will definitely be needed? They run on gas.
3.) Trash that these data centers make – where are we going to put it?
4.) Where to build? Build on unstable ground or in a seismically active zone – equivalent to constructing a house of cards “seismology” branch of science concerned with earthquakes and related phenomena.
Who decides? Not the company who wants to build these centers.
5. Who will it affect? What do we want from our country?
You just can’t sit back and let those in charge decide, as we think they know best. But is that the case?
We are all responsible! We need to know exactly how data centers are going to change things – the good, the bad and the ugly!
I know we are all responsible. If we do nothing, then you can’t blame anyone but yourself.
