A Back to School Bash is being held this Saturday, Aug. 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Glen Maury Park’s Oyler skate pavilion in Buena Vista.
Multiple organizations are combining resources to offer a single-stop location where families can pick up school supplies, shoes, coats, and books, grab a meal, and let kids burn off energy in a bouncy house – all in one morning, all at no cost.
The event brings together Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church, Calvary Brethren Church, Unity4Kids and Rockbridge County public schools as lead organizers, with support from the Rockbridge Regional Library Bookmobile, Project Horizon, Rockbridge Area Community Services and the Rockbridge Area Health Center Community Health Team. The Buena Vista Police Department and Buena Vista Fire Department will round out the lineup, giving families a chance to connect with local first responders.
“By pooling their networks in unity, these organizations provide families with a single, comprehensive hub of wrap-around support and community resources,” said Tammy Reid, executive director for Unity4Kids.
