Unity4Kids, in partnership with Rockbridge County public schools and Walmart, will host the “Pack the Bus” school supply drive on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Lexington Walmart.
Shoppers can purchase back-to-school supplies at Walmart and donate them on the spot to fill a school bus parked at the store. As a thank-you to the community, Unity4Kids will provide free lunch to the first 100 customers who purchase supplies and Pack the Bus.
“Every child deserves to walk into that first day of school with the basic tools they need to succeed,” said Tammy Reid, founder and executive director of Unity4Kids. “Pack the Bus is a simple, hands-on way for our community to make sure no local student starts the year without a backpack full of supplies.”
A list of the most-needed school supplies will be provided at the event and shared through Unity4Kids’ website and social media channels in advance.
