July 13, 2026 Editor, The News-Gazette: We join our greater community in mourning and in celebrating the life of Mayor Frank Friedman.
Regardless of one’s political party affiliation, social status, or address, Frank treated all who encountered him with civility, generosity, and any help he was able to give. We will greatly miss Frank’s uplifting personality and consistent professional demeanor that was able to bridge so many barriers and accomplish so many things. He thoughtfully listened to all sides and then moved forward with whatever he determined was best for the community that he tirelessly worked to improve. His leadership and friendship in this partisan world exemplifies how good each of us might be.
