‘Galled’ By Network’s Anti-Trump Bias During Celebration

July 10, 2026 Editor, The News-Gazette: On Saturday morning into early afternoon, July 4th, there was a spectacular continuous display of tall ships and aircraft flyovers on the waters of New York City. With all of the iconic backgrounds of skyscrapers and the Statue of Liberty in most shots, it was epic viewing.

One cable channel covered the entire event, Fox, with announcers that were outside broadcasting with beautiful backdrops, and reporters on the lead Coast Guard schooner, as well as other interesting venues. The anchors were so excited to be there and were gushing about the magnificent pageantry, patriotism, and pride that they and so many viewers shared. It was some of the best hours on TV that I have experienced in quite a while.

Then I flipped over to MS NOW to see their coverage (I regularly flip back and forth to try to get both perspectives). What did I find? A hundredth time rehash of Trump bashing about some story they have covered ad nauseum and not a peek of the New York activities.

Really? Barely a mention of our 250th U.S. birthday except for a small box message in the bottom right hand scroll. Their anti-Trump bias has poisoned the station and was a real disservice to its viewers. I’m guessing that even their most ardent viewers were bailing to Fox or some other venue to watch New York’s activities. Finally, sometime around noon, the production staff must have realized they were committing viewership suicide and started covering the activities.

Believe me ... I am not an avid Trump fan and I disagree with many of his decisions. I didn’t even vote for him in one election. What really galls and amazes me is that the liberal media is so hell bent on bashing Trump that their bias has taken over their sensibilities, as demonstrated by their pitiful coverage of that glorious 4th in New York.
