The Virginia Military Institute Police Department will host the third annual “Guns and Hoses” charity softball game on Tuesday, July 21 at 6 p.m. at Lamore Field at Gray-Minor Stadium on post.
Members of police and fire departments from Rockbridge County, Lexington, and Buena Vista will be competing.
The gates open at 5:15 p.m. Admission is $5 donation toward a local scholarship fund or a donation of pet food or other pet supplies benefiting the Rockbridge SPCA.
The scholarship goes to one senior each from Parry McCluer High School and Rockbridge County High School who are pursuing careers as first responders. Tickets for a raffle benefiting the scholarship will also be sold during the game. Ticket price is $10 each or three for $20.
The concession stand will be open during the game.
