A North Carolina man was arrested and charged with several felonies, including two counts of attempted murder, after discharging a firearm in a road rage incident on Sunday in Rockbridge County.
Shortly after 1 p.m., a 911 caller reported that an in- dividual had fired a gun at his vehicle six times. Both the caller and the other vehicle had been traveling south on Interstate 81, with the incident occurring near mile marker 191 and then onto Interstate 64. The caller got ou the interstate at Exit 55, and the other vehicle turned around and returned to Interstate 81, where it was stopped by

The driver of the vehicle was identified as David Jason Hodges, 48, of Lexi ngton, N.C. In a dd it ion to the two counts of attempted mu rder, Hodges was also charged with two felony counts of using a firearm in commission of a felony and two felony counts of reckless disregard for a child. He is also charged with four misdemeanor counts of brandishing a firearm, four misdemeanor counts of reckless use of a firearm and one count of reckless driving.
Hodges is currently being held without bond in Rockbridge Regional Jail.
He has a preliminary hearing scheduled on Sept. 2 in Rockbridge County General District Court for all of the charges except for the two counts of reckless disregard for a child, which have been remanded to Rockbridge Juvenile/ Domestic Relations Court.
