A light rain didn’t deter racers and attendees from Goshen’s Summer Bash on Saturday. Among the scenes were (clockwise from above) participants in the inaugural adult division of the town’s soapbox derby racing down Old Alleghany Circle; Goshen Vice Mayor Steve Bickley (left) and Councilman Derrick Ogden helping racer Alea Ogden get set in her car; drivers in the kids race taking their cars down Old Alleghany Circle; lemonade making; local musician Bruce Allan performing; Bickley helping Rylan Martin fire off a confetti popper; representatives from Rockbridge Recovery talking with attendees about the resources they offer; crowds gathering under tents to escape the rain and enjoy the music; Bickley shooting a confetti popper as he races down Old Alleghany Circle; and Steve Landrum (center photo) being presented with a trophy by Goshen Mayor Tom McCraw as the winner of the adult division of the soapbox derby race.
