The town of Goshen has received two of the grants it applied for in relation to the park it is planning to develop on a parcel of town-owned land behind the Dollar General.
The first, a $350,000 grant from the Virginia Outdoor Foundation, will allow the town to put the land into a conservation easement to maintain its natural resources.
The second, a $210,000 grant from the Virginia Recreational Trails Program, will be put toward the development of walking trails within the park.
The town will work with David Hill Studios in Roanoke, which is donating time to assist the town with this project, to determine what type of and length of trail system the town can afford, and plans to seek out additional grant opportunities to fund further development of the park.
